Long ago Liberians used to refer to soldiers in this country, that is the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), is a 'noko' army. There is now every indication showing that under the dynamic leadership of her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the army has steadily moved from a noko concept to a well trained, disciplined and professional military structure prepared and ready for playing the role of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Liberia.

Recently a team of city Police from the Monrovia City Corporation put- x-marks in bold letters, on the doors of entertainment centers on the left hand-side towards the last curve leading to the James Spriggs-Payne airport in the airfield area of Monrovia. Popular night clubs such as 24Hours, Satellite etc are being reduced to silence. This draconian action has been received by the general public with mixed feelings.

Last week was very hectic for the President of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, as on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of last week, she conducted an important act of state. She administered the oath of office to a large number of senior government officials including three Cabinet Ministers, all Deputy Ministers, heads of autonomous agencies and some senior Liberian ambassadors abroad as well as to all assistant ministers and the superintendents of Liberia's 15 counties.
