Dr. Isaac G. Wiles (right) speaking before the presentation of the donated items in Margibi The Dr. Isaac G. Wiles Foundation for Education and Community Empowerment Incorporated (DIGFECOE) has moved forward with the distribution of educational materials for its adult illiteracy program in Margibi County in grand style.
The Foundation with its intent to engage in the establishment of night schools in elevating adult illiteracy presented dozens of copy books, dozens of reading books, dusters, chalks, a 2.5 KVA generator with gasoline, bundles of electrical wires, light bulbs and other accessories to two towns in Margibi County including Wolala Township in Upper Margibi and Kollie Kaine in Bong Mines.
The Executive Director of DIGWFECOE Tuma Johnson after receiving a white chicken, kola nuts and rice as a sign of welcome, reception and appreciation from the elders of both communities, informed them that the Foundation (a non-profit and non-governmental organization) has made similar distributions in Kpekor, Sabeh both in Montserrado County and Levumah and Bonjeh Towns in Bomi County and was now in Margibi with akin presentation but warned them to take the program serious.
Dr. Wiles in his remarks before the presentation of the items disclosed that he was fortunate to go to school and learn and wants to give back to the society.
He said anything that an individual wants to become in the future he or she can achieve it if only he or she is determined, focused and work towards it; but also warned against jealousy and envy which he said are disturbing elements that keep you from developing your potentials.
The Founder of DIGWFECOE said he would be happy if in the Sande and Poro societies; education curriculum will be included in programs that will enable the graduating students the capacity to also read and write their own names.
Dr. Wiles informed them that more companies were on their way to Liberia but the only way they can work with these companies was if they are educated or properly trained and that was the only way they can benefit their communities.
“DIGWFECOE does not want anything from you because the Foundation is for you and therefore you must hold it with two hands so you can benefit from it tomorrow”, he told citizens of the both townships.
Dr. Wiles then specified that the program was not for older people only but the youth and children can also benefit.
Receiving the items, the community chairman and town chiefs of both townships thanked DIGWFECOE for the kind gesture, noting that this is what they as citizens had long been waiting for.
They said in two separate statements that this was the first time so far such opportunity was being provided them and promised that they would take care of items so they can benefit tomorrow.
This is so far the sixth community outreach in three counties DIGWFECOE has made in four months as this will continue in the fifteen counties with programs of literacy and enlightenment to lift the Liberian people out of poverty and despair.
