A pro-democracy organization, Lofa Youth Against Corruption in Liberia says its attention has been drawn to a recent press release under the caption, “Reconciliation far from Achievement” purportedly been disseminated by one Akoi Dakala.
A press release from the organization vehemently condemns and distances itself from Dakala's divisive press release, advising him to stop the spread of lies and falsehood especially against the Vice President...
“We consider such statement as worthless, baseless, and must not be given a micro-inch consideration, especially in the corridors of academic intellectuals and country patriots”, the release said.
“Before I proceed further, let me quickly derange this pointless wishy-washy argument put forward by a caricature political hustler like Akoi Dakala. He claimed that the VP, Ambassador Boakai is at the center of division among the Gissi tribes in Lofa.
Historically, there is no where ever in our country in which the Vice President had ever been linked or connected to conflict before and after the civil war”, the release signed by the pro-democracy group's Chairman Hamza V. Sheriff said.
The release said Dakala's alleged claim can only be substantiated by him in telling conscious minded individuals as to when, where and how the VP got himself at the center of division in Lofa.
What is more ludicrous and illogical is, the release continue, for Akoi Dakala who does not have a single student record, nor the simplest understanding of the body politics of Lofa, to have said that the Vice President has for over the years given more attention to his tribal group, adding, if this were true, the people of Lofa in general won't have given Unity Party an overwhelming vote among the counties in Liberia amidst 2011 presidential elections.
“It is not that we want to defend VP Boakai, but the media is certainly the gateway to public consumption. We must speak the truth and go against the wrongs before it gets too late,” the release asserted.
In a release of November 19, 2012 signed by Akoi Dakala in his capacity as Organizing Chairman of the All Lofa University Peace & Reconciliation Conference, he said Vice President Boakai's focus has over the time being paid to only the tribe he belongs to, which, according to him is not seriously helping the county.
The release also described the activities of Vice President Boakai in Lofa politics as very tribalistic, which lacks all forms of peace and reconciliation which the country wants to achieve.
