Mr. Robert B.TeahA defeated representative candidate in the 2011 presidential and general elections on the ruling Unity Party (UP), for district # 16 in Montserrado County, Robert B.Teah has provided more than 3,000 scholarships to students in the area.
Mr. Teah said he has decided to provide scholarships scheme to the students because the human resource development should be given major attention in order to prepare the youth to enable them meet tomorrow's leadership challenges.
Mr. Teah made the statement on Sunday in the Crab Hole community at St. Paul Bridge when he had a town hall reunion meeting with the citizens in the aftermath of the elections.
Mr. Teah who is also the Chairman of the Borough School Teachers Association (BOSTA) said when the youth are adequately educated they will become effective, efficient and productive future leaders.
He said that he organized the meeting to inform the citizens that all the promises he made during his campaign period will be honored for the benefit of the citizens.
He said it is regrettable to note that many of those who were contesting the representative seat during the elections are yet to return to the people for their participation in the process.
Mr. Teah expressed appreciation to the citizens for their full participation in the process and for the huge votes he received from the Crab Hole community.
He said that besides the academic education, he has also provided several scholarships for vocational and technical education to those who want to acquire skills that will allow them get involved in the reconstruction, reunification and reconciliation of the nation.
The Liberian politician said the reconstruction of Liberia should not be the responsibility of the government alone, but it should claim the attention of every Liberian.
Mr.Teah who is also the Principal of Juah Sarwee Memorial Welfare Institute in the Borough of New Kru Town, said the scholarship is intended for students whose parents cannot afford to send them to school due to their low income.
He called on students who are recipients of the scholarships to take their education seriously so that they will be in the position to compete with other young people in the sub-region.
