Pastor Mathew Sekuah in a joyous mood at the Ministry of JusticeThe case of misappropriation of entrusted fund against Pastor Mathew Sekuah for the amount of One Million United State Dollars intended to purchase 72.8 acres of land to build school and medical center in Liberia which the Jury ruled against defendant Sekuah has been recalled for retrial.

In his ruling in favor of the retrial motion requested by the defense council, the first Judicial Circuit, Criminal Court Assizes 'C' Judge, Peter Gbeneweleh said the evidence provided by the prosecution was not enough to warrant defendant guilt, explaining that the amount alleged by plaintiff to have been misappropriated was used by the defendant and has the deed in his possession, adding that the jury's verdict was contrary to the evidences.

Speaking after the retrial motion was announced, Pastor Mathew Sekeuh said he gave God the glory for the point the case has reach with the judgment, adding  that he represent over 19 million Liberians out there seek assistance to come and build this nation.   Now the final verdict of this case is what people are waiting to hear.

”My good character built over the years is at stake, I cannot go out there anymore to seek assistance. I want you know that with the fear of God, I have done everything that needs to be done. I challenge my detractors to come out with any evidence to prove their case,” he stated.

In his ruling in the motion for new trial, Judge Peter Gbeneweleh stated that from the evidences so far adduced at the trial, the prosecution did fail to prove its case and that the court did not observe anything fraudulent on the part of the defendant, as all  tasks given him were performed with documentary evidence.

“Wherefore and in view of the foregoing, the motion for a retrial is granted as the verdict of the jury was contrary to the evidence,” the Judge ruled.
