Three officials of the Liberia United for Sustainable Development (LUSD) have disclosed that plans have been finalized to plant cassava on its 25 acres of farm land located in Kakata, Margibi County.
The leadership of the Independent Mano River Transport Union of Liberia (IMRTUL) has expressed thanks and appreciation to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for accepting and recognizing the IMRTUL operations in the country.
The Ministers of Education of both Liberia and Botswana over the weekend signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to improve the education sector of both countries.
Liberia Education Minister, Edmonia David Tarpeh said that the MOU was signed to address the most needed areas. Even though Minister Tarpeh did not name some of the areas where assistance is needed most, she noted that the MOU is a beginning of a good relationship between the two countries.
According to Minister Tarpeh, the implementation of agreements contained in the MOU takes immediate effect. She also added that her ministry is ready to take up the challenge that may be involved in fulfilling her government's side of the MOU.
For her part, the Education Minister of Botswana, Pelonomi Veson Moitoi expressed her government's commitment to achieving the aim of the MOU signed by both countries.
Minister Moitoi who on last Friday ended a week-long visit to Liberia, said the survivor of every African country is interdependent, therefore the collaboration between Liberia and Botswana in the area of education is a very good initiative.
Minister Moitoi said there have been lot of misinformation about Liberia, but visit and the collaboration will turn those 'lies' into opportunities for the two countries.
“We look forward to collaborating with you for the common good of our two countries,” Minister Moitoi added. The MOU signed between the two countries is expected to begin with student exchange program.
Accordingly, 25 Liberian students specifically under graduates and graduates will soon leave the country study in Botswana while students from Botswana are expected to come to Liberia for internship.
