Three officials of the Liberia United for Sustainable Development (LUSD) have disclosed that plans have been finalized to plant cassava on its 25 acres of farm land located in Kakata, Margibi County.
The leadership of the Independent Mano River Transport Union of Liberia (IMRTUL) has expressed thanks and appreciation to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for accepting and recognizing the IMRTUL operations in the country.
The leading commercial and international highway that links Nimba county to the Ivory Coast via Karnplay, the head quarter of Gbehlay – Geh District got damaged in September 2012 due to heavy flooding that removed logs used as bridge on the Nulay Pue River.
Speaking to the Informer during the year end program in Vayenglay Town, Wialay Clan, Soe Chiefdom, in the Twah River Electoral District #4, Representative Garrison Yealu said that he and Hon. Samuel Woleh raised the issue of the damaged bridge in a development meeting in Sanniquillie, and by consensus it was resolved that the Yellow caterpillar Machines in Nimba County be sent to the district to rehabilitate the bridge in the shortest possible time.
Honorable Yealu said that when the machines are in the two districts, priority will be given to rehabilitation of the bridge linking towns in districts No. 3 and district No.4, the repair of the damaged road between Sanniquellie and Karnplay, and the rehabilitation of the road leading to Gborplay.
He said: “the demands on us are many, but we will do our best to address them equally. It will take time, in the end we will reach our people to the Promised Land”.
The Superintendent of Nimba County, Madam Dagadu, is quoted to have said that due to the importance of the bridge to the county, the technical team of the Ministry of public work has been informed, adding that during their discussions, the team was told that the road is one of their major highways that linking the county to the Ivory Cost.
She added that Public Works Minister Mr. Samuel Kofi Woods, along with all his deputies and the resident engineer of Nimba County are aware of the collapsed bridge. “We are hopeful that by the end of the month they, the Ministry of Public Works, will commence operations on the road's rehabilitation,” Superintendent Dagadu stated.
