Three officials of the Liberia United for Sustainable Development (LUSD) have disclosed that plans have been finalized to plant cassava on its 25 acres of farm land located in Kakata, Margibi County.
The leadership of the Independent Mano River Transport Union of Liberia (IMRTUL) has expressed thanks and appreciation to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for accepting and recognizing the IMRTUL operations in the country.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has praised recruits of the President's Young Professional Program (PUPP) for upholding work ethics as well as their commitment at various government ministries where they were assigned.The PUPP is a youth service program conceived by the Liberian President as an entry level for young Liberians in public service.
President Sirleaf said the dedication exhibited by the young Liberians have placed them in leadership roles in their various places of work and hoped other young Liberians will see them as examples in their quest to lead.
According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf was speaking Monday, January 21, at the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium during the graduation of the 2nd Class with 15 beneficiaries joining government service.
The Liberian President later requested the Program Manager, Saah Charles N'tow, to organize a one-day retreat where PUPP graduates will share their experiences with her on their appreciation for the program.
“At the one day retreat, I will love to hear their experiences on upholding work ethics and integrity in public service,” President Sirleaf indicated.
Speaking earlier, the Keynote Speaker, Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan challenged the graduates to demonstrate those vices that promote ethics and integrity at all times.
He reminded the young professionals about the problem with human resource capacity which he said have seriously affected productivity in Liberia. He said this was the time for them to see themselves as a beacon of hope for Liberia's human resource development.
According to Foreign Minister Ngafuan, the President's Young Professionals Program has brought Liberian youth in the limelight of demonstrating ethics and integrity at the workplace and hoped that the program will be extended not only to government ministries but also State Owned Enterprises as well.
Minister Ngafuan also admonished mentors to the incoming beneficiaries to continue treating the young professionals as a matter of obligation and not a privilege by helping them with their respective assignments at various ministries.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Civil Service Agency, Dr. William Allen, admitted the graduates into full-fledged civil servants following two years of mentorship at their respective areas of assignment.
