Ambassador Sulunteh, who was the special representative of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, was among some 900,000 guests that were estimated to have attended the event.
Speaking following the inaugural ceremonies, Ambassador Sulunteh expressed optimism that Liberia-U.S. relationship would be further strengthened during the second term of President Obama.
Ambassador Sulunteh said the recent visit of President Sirleaf to the United States for the signing on January 15, 2013 of the Statement of Intent launching a Partnership Dialogue that institutionalizes the long-standing bilateral relationship between Liberia and the United States signifies the growing ties between both countries.
“Now that the election and inauguration are over,” he indicated, “we look forward to fully engaging the Obama Administration to further enhance the bilateral relationship existing between our two countries.”
Ambassador Sulunteh reaffirmed the commitment of the government of President Sirleaf in working with the United States to foster global peace and security.
