The Managing Director of Medicare Insurance Inc. J. Sando Momolu has urged the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare to step up efforts to fight against heart attacks and typhoid in the country.

Momolu sounded the call Wednesday (Jan 23) at his Medicare office on Randall and Carey Streets when the investigative Liberian Journalist Network honored him for his services to humanity.

The medical practitioner stressed that there is a need that the Ministry works to minimize the death rate of heart attack and typhoid in the country.

Momolu disclosed that reports available to Medicare suggest that most of those dying from health complications were the results of those two ailments.

Heart attack, usually called 'high blood pressure' or 'hypertension' is often noticed for attacking people between the ages 40-90 years old. Typhoid, on the other hand, one of the leading sicknesses in Liberia, attacks both young and elderly people.

Meanwhile the Deputy Managing Director of Medicar Mr. Alphonso Paye  stated that  based on the investigation done by media Network,  Medicare deserved the honor given it as best Insurance company of the year 2012.

Medicare Insurance has been in the country since 1997 giving assistance to the Liberian Public through quality services.
